Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton libraries have joined forces to offer you improved access to more materials. You can now place holds on items from the Squamish and Whistler libraries and get them sent to your home library for pick up.

When searching for an item, our catalogue will automatically search Pemberton, Whistler and Squamish libraries to find the item you are looking for.

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions, if your question is not answered below please contact us, we are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

FAQ

How do I place a hold?

It’s easy! Log into your account. When you find an item you would like to place a hold on, click Place a Hold, and then choose where you would like to pick up your hold. Click Confirm Hold.

Are there any restrictions?

There are a few restrictions. The following items cannot be borrowed from Whistler and Squamish:

  • New Items
  • Online resources (Ebooks, Digital music or electronic audiobooks)
  • Nontraditional items (such as board games, kits, museum passes)

Can I request DVDs?

Yes! You can also request CDs, audiobooks, print books and magazines.

What is the difference between “available” and “available at your preferred location”?

Available means that the item is available at the Whistler and/or Squamish libraries. To find out which location the item is available at click on view details.

Available at your preferred location means the item is available at the Pemberton library. Please note that you must sign into your account for this feature to work.

How long will it take the item to arrive?

Wait times will vary. If the item is available at another library, it will take a week or so to arrive. If the item is checked out, or other people are waiting, it might take a few weeks. Depending on your notification preferences you will receive an email or phone call to notify you when your item is available to pick up at the Pemberton library.

Can I pick up my hold in Whistler or Squamish?

Yes! You can pick up holds from any of the three libraries. You decide when placing a hold where you would like to pick it up. Please note that this option is not available if you have enabled ‘single click holds’.   If you wish to pick up your holds from any of the other libraries we recommend disabling ‘single click holds’.

To check if this setting in enabled, or to turn it off:

  • Log in to your account
  • Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen
  • Click on my settings
  • Scroll down until you see account settings- holds and pick up location
  • Check to see if single click holds is enabled, click on Change to make any changes
  • Save changes

Can I renew items I have borrowed from other libraries?

Yes! You can renew items up to three times, as long as no one else is waiting to borrow them.

What if I still can’t find the book I am searching for?

You can suggest that we purchase a copy or search for it in another BC library using Illume.
