Renewals
If you wish to extend the borrowing period for an item, you may be able to renew your items.
Starting January 2nd, we will attempt to automatically renew your library items on the due date, up to 2 times.
Each auto-renewal gives you an additional full loan period, and we’ll notify you of the new due date, and if any of your items could not be automatically renewed via email.
Only a couple of types of items won’t automatically renew. Items on hold for another person, and items borrowed through our Interlibrary Loan service.
You’ll also have the option to manually renew your items one more time after your two auto-renewals if you’d like to keep your items a little longer. To manage your account, renew items and check due dates, log in to your online account.
Returns
Library materials can be returned to the Pemberton Library at any time! If the library is closed, you can drop off items in our after-hours returns bin.
This bin is situated in the wall on the northwest corner of the Community Centre and can be accessed by using the stairs near the fire lane on Cottonwood Street.
Returning to Other Libraries
You can return your library materials to any library in British Columbia, except for items borrowed from other libraries through our interlibrary loan service. Items are checked in when they arrive back at Pemberton Library.
Please note that it can take up to two weeks for items to get back to our library. There are no late fines, but you may see these items on your account for up to two weeks after you’ve returned them to another library.
Holds
Placing holds is a convenient way to ensure you get access to the books, movies, or other materials you want without the hassle of searching the shelves. We’ll pick the items for you and have them ready for you take home- all you have to do is check them out!
Additionally, placing holds allows you to manage your reading or viewing list effectively, as you can schedule when you’ll receive items based on your availability without losing your place in line. Planning a trip? No problem! You can easily suspend your holds through your library account and turn them back on when you’re back.
Finally, placing holds on items provides valuable insights to the library about patrons’ reading preferences and often leads to the purchase of additional copies of popular titles. This is particularly beneficial in managing the lengthy wait times for eBooks and audiobooks via the Libby app.
How to place holds through your Library Account
To place a hold through your online account, start by visiting our website and logging into your account with your library card number and PIN (typically the last four digits of your phone number). Once logged in, use the search function to find the item you wish to reserve. Click the “Place Hold” button next to the item, you may be prompted to confirm your hold, and you’re all set!
You’ll receive an email notification or phone call when your item is ready for pickup, making the process seamless and efficient.
