Join us for an evening with Rosella Leslie on Wednesday October 18th, 2023 at the Pemberton & District Public Library.

Rosella Leslie presents strategies and insights from her latest book, Losing us: a dementia caregiver’s journey about her twelve-years as a caregiver for her late husband, John.

In her talk she shares the challenges and triumphs of caring for a person with dementia, tools she has discovered to help caregivers cope with their grief and guilt, to develop the resilience they need to be kinder, healthier and happier caregivers, and how friends, family and the community can help.

Rosella learned about dementia and caregiving the hard way—through trial and error and plenty of guilt, frustration and tears. As many caregivers do, she waited far too long to seek help. When she did reach out to others, the support she received saved her life.

While caring for her husband, Rosella also helped to develop Memory Café in Sechelt, a weekly not-for-profit program where persons with dementia and their caregivers can get together for a few hours of light exercise, games and social interaction. Since John’s death, she has continued to help run this program, to volunteer at a weekly caregiver support group and to advocate for caregivers.

Registration is required! RSVP below.
