How to get a library card

Anyone living in Pemberton or Area C of the S.L.R.D, regardless of age, is eligible to obtain a free Pemberton & District Public Library card.

Visit the library to get your library card. You will need to show government-issued photo ID with your Pemberton/Area C address on it, or with a government-issued photo ID plus proof of your Pemberton/Area C residency.

Can’t make it into the library during our opening hours? You can sign up online for a library card! Once your application has been processed, library staff with contact you with your library card number and account details. 

 

Types of Library Cards

Details

Adult Card

For individuals aged 12 and older, an Adult library card will be issued. Adults may borrow up to 30 items.

 

Child Card

Children aged under 12 can get a library card with a parent or guardian present during the registration process.
Children may borrow up to 15 items (3 of those can be multimedia).

 

Visitor Card

Anyone from outside of British Columbia can pay a non-resident fee of $10 to obtain a temporary visitor’s card. The card is valid for 6 months or until the end of your stay in the area. Visitor’s may borrow up to 15 items.

I live in Whistler, Squamish, Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley or the Sunshine Coast

You can get a free library card if you live in one of the following member cities of InterLINK

(Bowen Island, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Fraser Valley, Gibsons and District, Lillooet Area, New Westminster, North Vancouver City, North Vancouver District, Port Moody, Richmond, Sechelt, Squamish, Surrey, Vancouver, West Vancouver or Whistler)

If you have a card from your own library system, bring it with you so library staff can register that card (then you will only need to carry one library card with you). If you don’t have a card we can issue you one.


I live in another area of BC

You can get a free BC OneCard.

You will need to show a government-issued photo ID that has your current address on it and your library card from your home library.


I am visiting the area

Anyone from outside of British Columbia can pay a non-resident fee of $10 to obtain a temporary visitor’s card. The card is valid for 6 months or until the end of your stay in the area.

Visitor’s may borrow up to 15 items.

 


The fine print

Library card holders’ rights and responsibilities

Please note that you are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are lost or damaged.

If you lose your library card, you are responsible for any items checked out on your card. You must report it as lost immediately and we will block the card so that no one can use it. There is a  charge of $2.00 to replace a lost card.

Change of address or password

It is important for us to have your current information. If you change your address or other personal information, please contact the library and we’ll update your account.
