Youth & Adult Program Coordinator / Library Assistant

1 Year Term Position / 12 hours per week

As our Youth and Adult Program Coordinator you will plan, coordinate and deliver Library programs and events, both in-person and online, that advance the Library’s mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.

The work schedule is directly tied to programming, with the expectation of evening and weekend work.


The main responsibilities will be to:

  • Plan, organise, and lead innovative and diverse library programs for youth and adults.
  • Work directly with potential program presenters/partners and adhere to budget limits.
  • Develop and maintain outreach initiatives to increase access to library services and resources.
  • Serve as the first line of customer service to perform circulation duties, maintain patron accounts, answer basic reference questions, and to advise on library services and resources.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Post-secondary education preferred (or a comparable blend of experience and training that equips you with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies).
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in a customer service environment.
  • Previous experience working in public libraries and with library specific software would be considered an asset.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Experience in program design and delivery.
  • A positive and friendly personality with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
